‎Paramount is returning to the world of Crawl with a new survival thriller starring Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd. Alexandre Aja, who directed the original 2019 film, is also returning to direct the sequel.

‎‘Crawl’ Sequel Moves the Action to New York
‎
‎While the original Crawl was set during a Category 5 hurricane in Florida, the new film will take its gator-filled survival story to New York.
‎
‎The sequel, which has been in development since at least 2024, centers on a city where gators appear in the streets and sewers after a hurricane hits.
‎
‎The 2019 movie starred Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper as a daughter and father who become trapped inside a Florida home while being hunted by a gator (or three) during the storm.
‎
‎The film was profitable for Paramount, earning $91.5 million against a budget of under $14 million.

‎Alexandre Aja Returns as Director
‎
‎Aja is returning behind the camera for the new Crawl movie. Jason Harry Pagan and Andrew Deutschman worked on the script, alongside Aja and Gregory Levasseur.
‎
‎Craig Flores, Sam Raimi and Aja are producing the sequel, while Levasseur and Zainab Azizi will serve as executive producers.
‎
‎Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd Lead the Cast
‎
‎Gooding is best known for his breakout role in Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart and his fan-favorite role in the Scream franchise. He can currently be seen in the Netflix comedy Hours opposite Kevin Hart and in Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, which is currently in theaters.
‎
‎I Want Your Sex also stars Olivia Wilde, Cooper Hoffman, Chase Sui Wonders and Charli XCX.
‎
‎Rudd serves as the female lead in Netflix’s record-breaking live-action adaptation of One Piece. She will next appear in Brian Duffield’s Whalefall for 20th Century Studios opposite Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin, which will be released in October.
‎
‎Rudd has also appeared in a one-season role on Amazon’s Hunters, playing Logan Lerman’s love interest, and starred in an installment of Netflix’s Fear Street franchise.
‎
‎Gooding is repped by CAA, Untitled and Sloane, Offer. Rudd is repped by Gersh, Entertainment 360 and Jackoway Austen.
