Beyoncé Releases 'Morning Dew (Donk)' as 4th of July Surprise Before B'Day Reissue
Beyoncé has surprised fans with a special Independence Day release, unveiling her new song, “Morning Dew (Donk),” as a 4th of July gift.

The slow-groove track marks the singer's first new song in two years and launches a 60-day countdown to both her upcoming birthday and the 20th anniversary reissue of B'Day, her groundbreaking second studio album. According to an announcement from Parkwood Entertainment, the original album was first released on September 4, 2006.

“Morning Dew (Donk)” was written by Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, and Darius Dixon, while Beyoncé and Pharrell Williams handled production. Parkwood Entertainment described the song as “a direct nod to her loyal BeyHive to commemorate the upcoming epic celebration of B’Day.”
The track will appear on the 20th Anniversary edition of B'Day and is accompanied by a lyric video featuring repurposed archival footage. The video was directed by Beyoncé's frequent collaborator Cliff Watts, who photographed her iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover around her 25th birthday.
B'Day became Beyoncé's second No. 1 album, selling 541,196 copies in its first week following its worldwide release on September 4, 2006, and its U.S. release on September 5, 2006.
The album's success extended beyond the United States, as its No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 was matched internationally, including in Japan, where it reached the top of the International Album Chart in less than three days.
