‎Court documents show that Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, filed for divorce from Bunnie Xo, formerly known as Alyssa DeFord, in May in Williamson County, Tennessee.
‎Jelly Roll is originally from Antioch, a suburb of Nashville that has remained a significant part of the former rapper’s personal story and public identity.
‎The couple married in Las Vegas during the summer of 2016. In her memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, Bunnie Xo reflected on their relationship and detailed how the pair embraced and supported one another despite difficult chapters in their pasts.
‎The book also explored aspects of her life before meeting Jelly Roll, including stories involving drug abuse, a past abortion, and various romantic relationships.
‎Earlier this year, Bunnie Xo spoke to People about the importance of supporting a partner through challenging times.
‎“When you are with somebody for a long time, you are going to have to love them at their lowest. And I truly believe that true love is not about so much as accepting things that you shouldn’t, but I do think that everybody deserves a second chance,” Bunnie Xo told People earlier this year. “Loving somebody at their lowest is one of the most beautiful things you can do, especially if they bloom and they blossom like my husband has.”
‎Jelly Roll also publicly acknowledged Bunnie Xo during his acceptance speech after winning Best Contemporary Country Album for Beautifully Broken at the 2026 Grammy Awards in February.
‎“I would have never change my life without you. I’d have ended up dead or in jail,” he said onstage. “I’d have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus.”
