‎Anya Taylor-Joy Joins 'The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum' Cast

‎Anya Taylor-Joy has officially joined the cast of the upcoming Lord of the Rings film, The Hunt for Gollum, becoming the latest major addition to the franchise.
‎The movie will be directed by Andy Serkis, who is also returning to portray Gollum. Set between The Hobbit trilogy and The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the story follows Aragorn and Gandalf as they search for Gollum in hopes of learning more about Bilbo’s ring, the One Ring that threatens all of Middle-earth.

‎Taylor-Joy will play Seren, a Sindar Elf from the Woodland Realm who serves as a trusted and deadly agent of King Thranduil, portrayed by Lee Pace.
‎Several familiar faces are returning for the film. Ian McKellen is set to reprise his role as Gandalf, while Elijah Wood returns as Frodo and Lee Pace returns as Thranduil. Taylor-Joy joins a group of new franchise additions that includes Kate Winslet as Marigol, Jamie Dornan as Strider and Leo Woodall as Halvard.
‎Behind the scenes, Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Zane Weiner are producing the project. Executive producers include Ken Kamins, Andy Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish of The Imaginarium. The screenplay was written by Walsh and Boyens, with Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou.
‎The Hunt for Gollum is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Dec. 17, 2027 through Warner Bros. and New Line.
‎Outside of the fantasy franchise, Taylor-Joy, who is represented by CAA, The Way Management and Felker Toczek, will next appear in Apple TV+’s Lucky before starring in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three.
‎Meanwhile, additional Lord of the Rings projects are already in development. Stephen Colbert is writing a second film with Boyens and Peter McGee under the working title The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past. The project is planned to follow The Hunt for Gollum and currently does not have a director attached.
