'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' Season 3 Premiere Date Confirmed for 2026

‎Fans of Middle-earth now have an official return date for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3. Amazon has confirmed that the highly anticipated new season will premiere on November 11, 2026, ending speculation that it would be delayed until 2027.

‎The announcement follows earlier reporting by The Hollywood Reporter and reinforces the series’ strong global performance on Prime Video. Amazon revealed that the show has reached “over 185 million viewers worldwide,” calling it “one of the highest performing and most-viewed titles ever on Prime Video, with a broad, highly engaged, global fan base.”

‎The fantasy series made an explosive debut, with Season 1 achieving the largest launch in Prime Video history within its first 91 days. Although Season 2 did not match that peak, it still secured the top spot on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 chart for original series.

‎Set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, the show takes place thousands of years before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. It explores a time when kingdoms rise and fall, legendary figures are tested, and the threat of darkness spreads across the world.

‎According to Amazon’s description, characters face the “long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth,” journeying across regions such as the Misty Mountains, Lindon, Númenor, and other distant lands that shape the fate of the world.
‎
‎Season 3 will significantly advance the timeline, jumping ahead “several years” from the previous season. It will be set during “the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron,” where the Dark Lord intensifies his efforts to create the One Ring and assert control over Middle-earth.

‎Behind the series are showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. The executive production team also includes Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and Charlotte Brandstrom, with Matthew Penry-Davey as producer and Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee serving as co-producers. The project is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
