The controversy began when Rose posted on Threads, alleging that the incident occurred almost two decades ago at a nightclub in Melbourne. According to her statement, she was in her early 20s at the time and has only now decided to speak openly about what she described.

In her post, Rose explained that she previously shared the experience publicly but framed it as a humorous, alcohol-fueled story because she did not know how to process it. She also claimed she stayed silent in part because Perry later agreed to assist her with obtaining a U.S. visa.
The situation gained further attention when a fan referenced Perry’s 2008 hit song in response to Rose’s claim. Rose clarified that the encounter she described was not consensual, offering a detailed account of what she alleged happened during the nightclub incident. She added that she has no intention of filing a police report over the matter, while asserting that witnesses and evidence exist.
Later, Rose briefly mentioned visiting a police station but did not provide additional details about that development.
In response, a representative for Perry issued a statement strongly rejecting the allegations. The statement described the claims as entirely false and characterized them as harmful and irresponsible. It also pointed to what was described as Rose’s history of making serious public accusations on social media that have been denied by those involved.
The discussion around the allegation gained traction after comments about Perry attending Coachella over the weekend alongside her partner, Justin Trudeau, sparked the exchange online.
Rose is widely known for her breakout role in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, as well as appearances in films such as The Meg and John Wick: Chapter 2.
