A school in England has restricted students from singing songs from KPop Demon Hunters as part of efforts to maintain its Christian ethos. Lilliput Church of England Infant School in Dorset confirmed the decision after concerns were raised within its community.

A note was sent to parents and carers of pupils aged four to seven, explaining that some individuals were “deeply uncomfortable” with specific lyrics from the hit Netflix film. According to BBC News, families were asked to encourage children not to sing the songs at school if the themes conflicted with their faith. Staff stated that demons are associated with “spiritual forces opposed to God and goodness,” reinforcing the school’s responsibility to uphold its Christian values.
Acting head teacher Lloyd Allington later released a new letter on the school’s website. He explained that for some Christians, even fictional or playful references to demons may conflict with teachings that emphasise rejecting evil rather than engaging with it, including within entertainment.
The updated communication also acknowledged positive feedback from some parents who feel that KPop Demon Hunters promotes values such as teamwork and kindness. Allington clarified that the school is not discouraging families from enjoying the film if it aligns with their personal beliefs.
The message emphasised that the school aims to help children understand that peers may hold differing views and to support an environment where those beliefs are respected.
The movie follows Huntr/x, a K-pop girl group who double as a demon-hunting trio. Released in June, it quickly became Netflix’s most-watched original title and has a sequel underway. The film’s soundtrack also made history on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first to place four songs in the top ten and securing five Grammy nominations.
