Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner Sue Ray J for Defamation Over Federal Racketeering Allegations
Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, have filed a defamation lawsuit against R&B singer Ray J, alleging that he made false claims about them being involved in a federal racketeering investigation. The legal action, submitted to Los Angeles County Superior Court, spans 13 pages and outlines a series of accusations aimed at discrediting both women.

The lawsuit states that Ray J, whose legal name is William Ray Norwood Jr., made defamatory comments during a May 30, 2025, interview featured in the Fox/Tubi special TMZ Presents: United States v. Sean Combs. According to the complaint, Ray J suggested that Kardashian and Jenner could be targets of federal criminal charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), a claim the plaintiffs firmly deny.
The complaint asserts that no federal agency has initiated any investigation into Kardashian or Jenner for racketeering. The plaintiffs emphasize that Ray J has presented no supporting evidence for these claims and that his statements are entirely fabricated. The legal filing also claims these accusations are not only false but form part of a wider campaign to tarnish the public image and reputations of both women.
Legal representatives Alex Spiro and Michael Lifrak, who are handling the case for Kardashian and Jenner, argue that Ray J’s public remarks are part of a long-standing pattern of behavior. The complaint references Ray J’s 2013 single “I Hit It First,” describing it as an early example of his efforts to publicly disparage Kardashian. According to the filing, his actions constitute both defamation and “false light publicity,” a legal claim that addresses misleading impressions that damage someone’s public image.
On September 24, 2025, Ray J is alleged to have escalated his public remarks during a livestream in which he claimed, “The federal RICO I’m about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy.” He also allegedly stated, “It’s worse than Diddy,” implying a comparison to ongoing investigations involving music mogul Sean Combs. The lawsuit emphasizes that such statements have no factual basis and have caused significant emotional and reputational harm.
According to the plaintiffs, the defamatory statements were deliberate, not merely careless exaggerations. The lawsuit claims Ray J’s actions were designed to exploit their fame for his personal gain, revive media attention around his name, and cause professional and personal damage.
The legal team is seeking both actual and punitive damages, with the final amounts to be determined during a jury trial. Neither Ray J nor his management has publicly responded to the allegations or issued any formal comment.
