Cardi B Addresses Courtroom Nap After Winning Civil Trial and Prepares for New Album Release

‎Cardi B has spoken out about viral courtroom footage from her recent civil trial, where she was caught dozing off during proceedings. The Grammy-winning rapper openly admitted the moment on The Jennifer Hudson Show, explaining she had been balancing the demands of her upcoming album rollout with long days in court.

‎“I’m not even going to lie, I was,” Cardi told Hudson during the interview. “I had a long night! I’m in the middle of an album rollout. I was so sleepy, I was trying to fight it.” She shared that she even attempted a breathing exercise to stay awake but couldn’t manage it.

‎The rapper also reflected on how overwhelming the experience had been. “I’m in the middle of an album rollout, and I have to go to court. And then, when I get to court, I realize that it’s going to be on national TV, being televised. It’s like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’ … I missed my kids’ first day of school.”

‎Earlier this month, Cardi B won her civil trial over allegations that she assaulted a security guard during an altercation at a Beverly Hills medical building seven years ago. A jury of 12 members unanimously ruled in her favor, agreeing that she did not hit or scratch the plaintiff, Emani Ellis.

‎Following the verdict, Cardi urged her supporters not to target Ellis but issued a firm warning about future lawsuits. “The next person who tries to do a frivolous lawsuit against me, I’m going to counter-sue, and I’m gonna make you pay,” she stated outside the courthouse in Alhambra, California. “I am not that celeb that you sue, and you think it’s going to settle. I’m not gonna settle. Especially when I’m super completely innocent.”

‎Attention now turns to Cardi B’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Am I the Drama?, which is scheduled for release on September 19. The project boasts a star-studded lineup of features, including Janet Jackson, Selena Gomez, Megan Thee Stallion, Lizzo, Kehlani, and Tyla.
