‎Oslo state attorney Sturla Henriksbø announced that Høiby, 28, faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted, according to broadcaster NRK. The indictment, filed in Oslo District Court, contains 32 counts. These include allegations of rape, abuse in a close relationship against a former partner, acts of violence against another former partner, death threats, and traffic violations.
‎Høiby, the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, does not hold a royal title and has no official royal duties. He came under public scrutiny last year following repeated arrests linked to various allegations. Despite the indictment, Henriksbø stated there is currently no reason to place him in custody ahead of trial.
‎Prosecutors estimate that proceedings could begin in mid-January 2025 and may last around six weeks.
‎Defense attorney Petar Sekulic issued a statement in response to the charges, emphasizing that Høiby “denies all allegations of sexual abuse as well as most of the accusations concerning violence.” Sekulic added that his client intends to provide a full account of events during the court proceedings.
‎The Norwegian royal palace said the matter is for the courts to decide and declined to offer further comment.
