Hollywood reacts to Sean 'Diddy' Combs verdict: Outrage, disbelief, and support for Cassie Ventura
A wave of strong reactions from Hollywood celebrities followed Wednesday’s verdict in the high-profile federal case against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. The jury found Combs guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution but acquitted him on the more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges. The outcome, after weeks of graphic testimony and intense scrutiny, has sparked outrage, especially among women in the entertainment industry who have long called for accountability in cases of abuse and exploitation.

Over the course of the six-week trial, federal prosecutors laid out a detailed case that sought to prove Combs operated his Bad Boy Records empire as a criminal enterprise. Star witness Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, Combs’ former longtime partner, delivered emotional testimony recounting years of alleged abuse, including physical violence, sexual coercion, and manipulation through power and fear. Her courtroom appearance marked a pivotal moment in the trial and became a flashpoint for discussions around survivor credibility and systemic injustice.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who has publicly feuded with Combs for years, reacted on Instagram with a combination of mockery and shock. “Diddy beat the Rico, that boy a bad man!” he posted. He went on to compare Combs to the notorious crime boss, calling him the “Gay John Gotti,” a remark that quickly drew criticism for its insensitivity.
Aubrey O’Day, who rose to fame under Combs’ tutelage in Making the Band 3 with girl group Danity Kane, voiced disgust at the verdict. Sharing video of CNN’s coverage, she exclaimed, “This makes me physically ill… Cassie probably feels so horrible.” In a separate Instagram Story, she called the jury’s decision “heartbreaking” and decried the impact it will have on survivors who risk everything to speak out. “Women, Nor men, Nor ANY ARTIST – are the property of those with the most wealth, fame & power,” she wrote, urging that celebrity status must not shield perpetrators.
O’Day, no stranger to conflict with Combs, has previously accused the music executive of retaliation after refusing non-professional demands. Her history adds a powerful dimension to her support for Ventura and others impacted by Combs’ alleged abuse.
Grammy-nominated singer Kesha also added her voice to the chorus of support. On X, she wrote, “Cassie, I believe you. I love you. Your strength is a beacon for every survivor.” Kesha, a survivor of her own legal battle involving allegations of abuse in the music industry, made headlines last year when she publicly altered lyrics in her hit song “TiK ToK” to denounce Combs.
Rosie O’Donnell addressed the deeper cultural implications of the verdict. “A jury just never wants to believe that a woman stays because of power and coercion,” she wrote on Instagram. “What a fucking joke — this decision got me angry #cassie.”
