FX orders comedy pilot 'Movers' from 'Reno 911!' duo Robert Ben Garant and Cathy Shim
FX has taken its first steps into the moving business, though not literally. The Disney-owned network has commissioned a pilot for Movers, a comedy series created by longtime collaborators Robert Ben Garant and Cathy Shim, both veterans of Reno 911!. The show, an improvisational take on the chaotic and deeply interdependent lives of a team of movers, marks a new direction in FX’s scripted comedy development. Garant and Shim, who are married, will also feature in the ensemble cast.

The lineup for Movers includes an eclectic mix of talent drawn from television, comedy, and pro wrestling. Rebecca Quin, best known to WWE fans as Becky Lynch, joins the project alongside Maz Jobrani, known for his work on Superior Donuts. Also featured are Darius Homayoun of Tehran, stand-up comedian Tanael Joachim, and Manny Montana, recognized for roles in Ironheart and Good Girls.
The upcoming pilot joins FX’s growing slate of comedy ventures. Recently, the network also revealed development on Very Young Frankenstein, a series inspired by the iconic 1974 Mel Brooks film Young Frankenstein. This signals a continued investment in both original and legacy-inspired comedic content by FX.
Robert Ben Garant brings a notable résumé to the project. As a co-creator of Reno 911! alongside Kerri Kenney and Thomas Lennon, his body of work includes writing and producing credits on projects such as The State, Night at the Museum, and Bajillion Dollar Propertie$. Cathy Shim, who appeared in Reno 911! in a recurring role, previously collaborated with Garant on the TruTV pilot Seoul Hunters, in which she both starred and co-wrote. Her broader acting portfolio spans films including Anderson Paak’s K-Pops!, The Sun Is Also a Star, and The Watch.
Executive producing duties on Movers will be handled by Garant and Shim, joined by Stacey Sher, Peter Principato, and Jonny Shipes. Their collective production experience brings further depth to the pilot, strengthening the show’s potential as a new addition to FX’s comedy lineup.
Representation details for the cast and creators reflect a range of top-tier agencies. Garant is represented by CAA, Artists First, and Jackoway Austen, while Shim is with Global Artists Agency and Jackoway Austen. Quin counts CAA, Adventure Media, and Brecheen Feldman among her reps.
