'This is my witch potion': Hailey Bieber uses Vogue interview to tackle Justin rumors and social media myths

A viral Vogue “What’s in My Bag” interview showcased a side of Hailey rarely seen by the public: sarcastic, self-aware, and unbothered. As she pulled items from her purse, she addressed — with biting humor — nearly every conspiracy theory the internet has thrown her way.
Holding up multiple phones, Hailey deadpanned, “These are a couple more that I keep on me, and I really just use them for a lot of the simple stuff, like surfing anonymously, commenting, stalking, viewing girls’ pages, making multiple accounts… You know, that kind of thing.”
That sly remark was widely interpreted as a direct jab at long-standing rumors claiming she runs fake social media accounts to spy on Selena Gomez and her fans.
And she didn’t stop there. The next object she revealed? A glass bottle, presented with mock sincerity: “This is a little tincture potion… my dad flew me to meet a witch who made it to make a young Canadian pop star fall in love with me.”
The line, dripping with irony, was a brilliant reference to the long-standing internet narrative that Hailey plotted to marry Justin Bieber since her teenage years.
Much of this theory stems from resurfaced tweets posted by Hailey when she was 15 years old. At the time, she gushed over the then-couple “Jelena,” tweeting that Justin and Selena were the “definition of a teenage dream” and that Selena was “beyond flawless.” She even joked about being “forever alone” in comparison.
Following Justin and Selena’s final breakup in March 2018, Hailey and Justin began dating just three months later. By July 2018, they were engaged, and they tied the knot in a courthouse that September. The timing led to endless speculation, with fans labeling Hailey’s admiration as obsession.
Hailey’s ability to satirize those very accusations on a major fashion platform like Vogue marks a turning point in her public image. Instead of refuting or hiding from the rumors, she’s reclaiming them — and fans are taking notice.
“She ate the haters up on VOGUEEE what an icon,” one top comment on TikTok read. Another praised her deadpan humor: “Mother has a sense of humor and the facecard 😭.”
Even critics admitted defeat. “Not a fan of her but she ate this up ngl 😭,” said one user. Others applauded her for laughing at the madness rather than playing the victim: “Hailey mocking her haters instead of crying or playing the victim is everything 💜.”
Public fascination with the supposed Hailey-Selena feud continues to ripple across social media, but with this Vogue video, Hailey Bieber may have just taken back control of the narrative — with poise, wit, and a perfectly timed joke about witchcraft.
