‎'Ransom Canyon' renewed for Season 2 by Netflix: Hit romantic western returns with more secrets and scenery

‎Netflix has officially renewed Ransom Canyon for Season 2, continuing the romantic Western saga set in the sweeping Texas Hill Country. The series, which stars Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, is based on the bestselling novels by Jodi Thomas and has quickly become a cornerstone of Netflix’s “comfort entertainment” lineup alongside titles like Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias.

‎The announcement comes more than two months after the first season’s 10-episode debut, which spent four weeks in the Global Top 10 TV (English) chart and ranked in the Top 10 in 77 countries. The show resonated with audiences globally, blending rugged family drama with tender romance, all set against a visually rich Western backdrop.

‎Season 2 is expected to begin filming in September, returning to Netflix Studios Albuquerque in New Mexico, the same production home as Season 1. While James Brolin will not return due to the completion of his character arc, fan-favorite cast members including Eoin Macken, Lizzy Greene, Andrew Liner, Garrett Wareing, Jack Schumacher, and Marianly Tejada are all set to reprise their roles.

‎A mysterious new character teased at the end of Season 1 — the wife of Yancy, portrayed in silhouette by Jane by Design star Erica Dasher — will be fully introduced in Season 2. Blair revealed Dasher has now been given the opportunity to officially audition for the role, which promises a “juicy backstory” and added intrigue.
