Halle Bailey granted restraining order against DDG over alleged abuse and custody dispute
Grammy-nominated singer and actress Halle Bailey has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-partner, rapper and YouTuber Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., professionally known as DDG. The order follows a series of disturbing allegations that surfaced in court documents, detailing multiple instances of physical abuse and escalating custody tensions involving their 1-year-old son, Halo.

As first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by Billboard, Bailey, 25, filed a police report and a formal request for court-ordered protection, claiming the abuse began in January when DDG came to pick up their child. According to the documents, an argument over visitation scheduling allegedly turned violent. Bailey stated that while securing Halo in his car seat, DDG shouted at her, yanked her hair, slammed her face into the steering wheel, and chipped her tooth—injuries she documented with photographs included in her restraining order filing.
Bailey reportedly left Halo with DDG’s family following the incident but claims the violence didn’t stop there. She alleged two additional encounters occurred—one in March, which was also reported to police, and another over Mother’s Day weekend. The latter stemmed from accusations by DDG over Bailey’s vacation plans, which she described as unfounded and threatening.
The couple, who ended their two-year relationship in October 2024, have had a contentious co-parenting relationship since their split. In court, Bailey expressed concern not only for her own safety but for her child’s wellbeing, citing online harassment triggered by DDG’s public posts and streams. She has requested that DDG be barred from discussing or posting about her and Halo on social platforms, noting the real-life safety risks his content generates.
Further complicating the matter, Bailey has asked the court for permission to travel with Halo to Italy, where she is filming a new project, accompanied by her family and a nanny.
A court hearing scheduled for June 4 will determine whether a permanent restraining order will be granted.
Representatives for DDG have not issued a formal statement as of this publication.
