Michael B. Jordan's 'Thomas Crown Affair' set for March 2027 theatrical and IMAX debut
Michael B. Jordan is stepping behind—and in front of—the camera once again, this time for a bold reimagining of the iconic caper The Thomas Crown Affair. The film is set to hit theaters and IMAX screens worldwide on March 5, 2027, marking Jordan’s second directorial effort following his hit debut with Creed III.

Starring Jordan alongside rising talent Taylor Russell, the film revisits the suave and cerebral crime story first introduced in Norman Jewison’s 1968 original, which starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The 1999 remake, headlined by Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo, brought the story into the modern age. Jordan’s version, however, promises yet another evolution.
“This isn’t just another remake,” Jordan said in a recorded message for CinemaCon earlier this month. “It’s a kind of movie that demands the big screen.”
Backed by Amazon MGM Studios, the new Thomas Crown Affair boasts a script by Drew Pearce (The Fall Guy), following earlier drafts by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. Producing alongside Jordan’s Outlier Society banner is Elizabeth Raposo, with Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff also producing. The original film’s screenwriter, Alan Trustman, returns as executive producer, adding a unique throughline to the franchise’s legacy.
Amazon MGM’s Kevin Wilson hinted that audiences should expect a few clever surprises. “It promises to surprise audiences with a few modern twists,” he shared, reinforcing Jordan’s vision for a cinematic experience rooted in spectacle and reinvention.
The film’s release continues a prolific year for Jordan, who is currently riding high at the box office with Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler and distributed by Warner Bros. His collaboration with Amazon MGM also signals a deepening partnership, building on the success of Creed III.
With high-caliber talent, a legacy IP, and a theatrical-first strategy, The Thomas Crown Affair is poised to be one of the most talked-about releases of 2027.
