Charli XCX in talks for major role in Greta Gerwig's Rock'n'Roll Narnia movie

Charli XCX has kicked off the month with a whirlwind of excitement. Fresh off her impressive four BRIT Awards, the pop sensation has now announced a headline slot at Glastonbury, leaving fans buzzing with anticipation. But while many might take a well-deserved break after such achievements, Charli isn't slowing down. The “Guess” singer is reportedly in talks to star in Greta Gerwig's upcoming Netflix adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia.

While the details surrounding her role remain under wraps, speculation is rife. Sources suggest that Charli XCX could be cast as Jadis, The White Witch, a character most famously portrayed by Tilda Swinton in the 2005 film The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Known for her icy demeanor and evil power, Jadis is infamous for casting Narnia into a century-long winter. If this rumor proves true, Charli’s involvement would be a significant career milestone, adding another major credit to her rapidly growing acting resume.

Charli's transition from chart-topping pop star to screen star has been gaining momentum. Just as rumors of her Narnia role surfaced, Charli entered production on The Moment, a project she originated and co-produced with A24. This film, along with her other upcoming projects, signals an exciting new chapter in her career. She’s set to appear in several highly anticipated films, including The Gallerist by Cathy Yan, I Want Your Sex directed by Gregg Araki, and Sacrifice by Romain Gavras. She’ll be sharing the screen with a star-studded cast featuring Olivia Wilde, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Evans, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, among many others.

As for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia adaptation, there’s little information available beyond a planned 2026 IMAX release and a Christmas Day Netflix premiere. However, Gerwig has described her vision for C.S. Lewis' beloved fantasy series as “all about rock ‘n’ roll,” leading fans to wonder if the film will take a unique musical approach. Could we be in for Narnia: The Musical? Given Gerwig’s success with the Barbie movie, the possibilities are intriguing.

As the excitement continues to build around Charli XCX’s potential role as The White Witch, we’ll keep an eye out for more updates on both her involvement and the direction of Gerwig’s Narnia adaptation. Stay tuned for more on this star-studded collaboration as we await further details.
