The 45-year-old "The Office" star and "A Quiet Place" director replaces Patrick Dempsey, the "Grey's Anatomy" veteran affectionately known as "McDreamy," who was honored last year.

People magazine has named the Sexiest Man Alive every year since 1985, when Mel Gibson received the title for the first time. The lone exception came in 1993, when Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford were crowned the Sexiest Couple Alive; no replacement was nominated in 1994.

Blanco raved in a People piece on Monday about girlfriend Selena Gomez and going "all out" for each other on date evenings, recalling the time Gomez hired her a botanical garden.

"I have a true best friend that I get to do everything in the world with, and every day is the best day of my life," he added of their time together.

He then recalled a Valentine's Day when he purchased her Taco Bell, prepared her "movie-theater nachos," and mailed her favorite pickles from Texas.

"We receive a lot of queries about the show and 'What about a reunion?' "And none of it is up to us," Greenfield said. "It's so much about Liz Meriwether, who created the show, and what she would do differently and how she would direct the show and if she would want to do a reunion."
