Jake Paul on defeating Mike Tyson: 'I proved myself'

The YouTuber-turned-prizefighter took to social media to discuss his victory over the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion after their boxing match, which was broadcast live on Netflix on November 15 from AT&T Stadium—home of the Dallas Cowboys—in Arlington, Texas, was defended by a number of fans, including Piers Morgan.

"Prime @MikeTyson would have destroyed @JakePaul in 90 seconds," the TV personality commented on X. "A 58-year-old Tyson went 8 rounds against a much fitter and more capable boxer half his age. You may mock him all you want, but Mike has a lion's heart, balls of steel, and will always be an amazing legend."
Paul said, "Who mocked him? He's an f--king beast. All respect to the Baddest Ever. It was an honor to share the ring with him, @MikeTyson.
Tyson, who last boxed professionally in 2005, losing to Kevin McBride, and in an exhibition bout in 2020, where he tied with opponent Roy Jones Jr., issued a message of personal reflection the day after the match, which took place months after he experienced a health emergency.
"This is one of those situations when you lost but still won," he joked on Twitter. "I am glad for last night. No regrets about getting in the ring one final time. I nearly died in June. Had eight blood transfusions. I lost half my blood and 25 pounds in the hospital and had to battle to be fit enough to fight, and I won."
He added, "To have my children see me go toe-to-toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man should have." "Thank you."
In a post-match interview on the livestream, Tyson stated that he was "happy" with his performance versus Paul.
"I didn't prove nothing to anybody, only to myself," he clarified. "I'm not one of those individuals who lives to satisfy the masses. I'm just pleased with what I can achieve."
The athlete, who wore a knee brace during the competition, admits to battling despite a leg injury.
"Yes, but I can't use that as an excuse," the man said. "If I did, I wouldn't be in here."
Tyson has not ruled out a comeback to the boxing ring. "I don't know," he answered. "It depends on the situation."
When asked who he would fight next, he said, "Maybe his brother," alluding to Logan Paul.
The influencer answered, "I'll kill you Mike," which made the boxer smile.
Tyson, who notoriously bit Evander Holyfield's ear during a world title battle in 1997, was frequently observed biting down on his left boxing glove throughout the eight-round heavyweight bout.
"I have a habit of biting my gloves when I fight, yes," Tyson subsequently said on the webcast. "Um, I have a biting fixation."
