Sydney Sweeney's dad 'walked out' after watching her strip off in 'racy' Euphoria scenes

Sydney Sweeney's father was unprepared for what he would witness in "Euphoria."

Sweeney, who played Cassie in "Euphoria," told TODAY's Willie Geist that her father "walked out" of the room after seeing the show with her grandfather.

"I didn't prepare my dad at all," she joked on the June 4 broadcast of "Sunday Sitdown."

"So he decided he was going to watch it without telling me, with his parents," according to her. "My father and grandfather switched it off and walked out. But my grandmother is a huge supporter of mine."

Sweeney stated that her mother already knew what was going to happen on the show because she had visited the set "a few times."

The "Reality" star also talked about her enjoyment of playing the "Euphoria" character, who turned a little crazy when she started seeing her best friend's boyfriend, Nate (Jacob Elordi).

"I love playing Cassie, especially last season because she was so crazy," Sweeney said. "And as an actor, that's just so much fun to kinda stretch your legs and play characters that go insane."

"I always tend to drift towards characters who might read one way on a page, and I like to find the layers to that character," she added. "I believe many people may have looked upon Cassie in the same way that they did on the show. They sexualize her."

However, Sweeney stated that Cassie is more than just her appearance. She described her role as a "beautiful broken" individual with "emotional depth to who she is."

Many fans have connected with Cassie's tale, as well as the rest of the ensemble, which includes Rue (Zendaya), Jules (Hunter Schafer), Maddy (Alexa Demie), and others.

When asked if she was "struck" by the show's popularity, Sweeney replied that "it's amazing" how people have welcomed the characters.

"It has nearly become ingrained in the culture. I mean, I remember my brother as a freshman and sophomore in college, and they were doing 'Euphoria' college-themed parties. And he says, 'I can't avoid it,'" she laughed.
