Elizabeth Debicki wins her first Emmy for her role as Princess Diana in 'The Crown'

Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki has officially won an Emmy.

The 34-year-old actress won the award for best supporting actress in a drama at the 2024 Emmys for her role as Princess Diana in Netflix's The Crown. This is the first time an Australian actress has won the category.

"I didn't write anything down because I'm very superstitious, and now I'm in a real pickle, so I'm going to do this quickly," Debicki quipped as she won her prize Sunday night.

"Peter [Morgan], thank you," she said, mentioning the show's creator. "Thank you for producing this show. Thank you for placing your trust in me.

Debicki, seemed at a lost for words, praised the show's cast and staff before delving into her experience as Princess Diana. "Playing this part, based on this unparalleled, incredible human being has been my great privilege," stated the actor. "It has been a gift."

Debicki began as Diana in the show's fifth season and continued through its sixth and final season. The last season spanned the years 1997 to 2005, covering Princess Diana's connection with Dodi Fayed and the 1997 car accident that killed them both.

The 76th Emmy Awards, co-hosted by father-son team Eugene and Dan Levy, will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles from 5-8 p.m. PT/8-11 p.m. ET. View all of the red carpet arrivals.
